Hugh Price Hughes lecture for June

This year’s series of lectures held at Hinde Street Methodist Church has been inspired by the 400th anniversary of the translation of the Bible into English, in the King James, or Authorised, Version.  The final lecture will take place on Tuesday 14 June at 7.30 pm.  The speaker is Mukti Barton and the subject is “Let me read the Bible with my own eyes, not with yours”.  Admission is free and all are welcome.

Thanksgiving Service

We will be holding our annual Thanksgiving Service on Saturday 11 June at 11.30am in the church.  At this service we can give thanks for those in our congregation and in our wider circle of family and friends who have died and remember all that they meant to us.

Following the service there will be an opportunity to meet together in the hall; light refreshments will be provided.

If you wish to remember someone who has died and would like to have them prayed for by name during the service, please give their name to the Church Secretary or one of the Ministers.

Ecumenical Service for Pentecost

This service will be held on Sunday 12 June at 6.30 pm in the Swedish Church, Harcourt Street, W1.  The preacher will be The Reverend the Lord Leslie Griffiths, Superintendent Minister of Wesley’s Chapel.  In order to enable us to participate in this service, the evening service here will be cancelled that day.

Christian Aid Week: 16-22 May

Crown Court has an impressive record in raising money for Christian Aid.  In 2010 the magnificent sum of £5,362.24 was achieved, £3,855.18 of which was collected during Christian Aid week.  And John Chestnut and Andrew Service have so far raised £4,512 from their epic cycle ride across America.
We’re not asking anyone to emulate John and Andrew’s impressive physical achievement, but we are asking if you can spare some time to collect for Christian Aid at tube and mainline stations in the City and West End from Wednesday 18 to Friday 20 May.  Morning and evening slots are available and can be tailored to fit in with your availability.  If you would like to help by collecting or counting money afterwards, please speak to Peter Esslemont at church or by email on sessiondep@crowncourtchurch.org.uk.
Let’s make 2011 another good year for Christian Aid collecting.

Friends’ Sunday

We look forward to welcoming members of the Friends of Crown Court for their annual service and lunch on Sunday 15 May.

There will be no congregational lunches on this Sunday, but if you would like to join the Friends for lunch, please contact Margaret Rees or the Church Secretary.
