Westminster Parking Review
Westminster Council met on 1 August to consider the review of parking controls and has agreed to implement a series of changes on an experimental basis for a period of 18 months.
Crown Court and the surrounding streets where most of us park are in Zone G, which is affected by all the changes. The main changes which will affect members of the congregation are as follows:
- From Monday to Saturday the existing controls will be extended until midnight (they currently stop at 6.30 pm)
- From Monday to Thursday the tariff between 6.30 pm and midnight will be reduced to 50% of the standard tariff
- On Sundays controls will be introduced between 1 pm* and 6.30 pm at the standard tariff.
It is anticipated that these changes will be in place by December 2011.
The standard tariff in Zone G is £4.40 per hour. Parking can be paid for by phone, using a credit or debit card, or by using parking cards. In order to pay by phone, you have to register with Westminster Council. Further information on how to do this is available on the web site: www.westminster.gov.uk. Parking cards to the value of £2.20 or £4.40 can be purchased from Westminster Libraries or one-stop shops.
*The report which was considered by the Council recommended that controls should start at 12 noon, but the information posted on the web site after the Council meeting states that the Council decision was to implement controls from 1pm.
