The Burns Club of London, which is Number 1 on the roll of The Robert Burns World Federation, is celebrating the 150th anniversary of its founding this year.  Crown Court’s connection with the Club goes back a long way.  Until 2005 they used to lay a wreath at the Burns statue in Victoria Embankment Gardens on the Sunday nearest to 25 January and then come to the church for tea and to join the evening service.

We are therefore delighted to host a special service of celebration here in the church at the morning service on Sunday 28 October, at which the guest preacher will be the Very Reverend John Chalmers, former Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.  And on the day after the service, Monday 29 October, there will be a performance of the Burns Cantata, The Jolly Beggars, at the British Library, in partnership with the British Library and the Centre for Burns Studies, University of Glasgow.  Further details of this performance will be available in due course.
