Centenary Celebration a Spectacular Success!

Friday 19 June was the long-awaited date of the Crown Court Centenary Ball.  By 19.00, everyone was coiffed, perfumed and impeccably dressed.  For those who had not been to the Caledonian Club before, it was easy find for we were welcomed at the door by a piper.  The magnificent venue added to the splendour of the occasion yet with just the right number attending, it felt very intimate too.

Welcomed at the entrance of the suite with a glass of champagne, we were soon mingling and admiring the items for auction and raffle.  With everyone in their finery, the room was a kaleidoscope of colours and a feast for the eyes to rival that which would soon arrive at our tables.

The meal was a triumph of simplicity and sophistication, with of course a Scottish twist, and this was accompanied by delectable wines.  With tastebuds tantalised and tickled, we heard about the history of Crown Court Church from our very own Reverend Philip Majcher.

The room was brought to order when auctioneer, Harry Vann, took the floor and several people left the room somewhat lighter - some due to the cost of their purchases, others because their stomach muscles had a good workout with such laughter!

The greatest workout was yet to come, as we ceilidhed into the night.  As Kafoozalum took us through our paces, our 'heuchs' could probably have been heard in Edinburgh!

A true success in every sense of the word, this account is simply a flavour of the Ball.  The photos tell the tale far better than I can. (Photos to follow shortly)

Thanks to all who made this fantastic evening happen.  As always, there were a few people slaving away behind the scenes even as we enjoyed our evening - you know who you are and we are very grateful.  Thanks also to our guests - Strip the Willow would not have been the same without you!  We look forward to seeing you at some of the upcoming Centenary events.
