Presbytery of England leaflet

For the annual Heart and Soul event which took place in Princes Street Gardens on the Sunday of the General Assembly, 22 May, we produced a leaflet giving information about all the congregations within the Presbytery of England which was handed out in copious numbers, together with our own very colourful bookmarks, to interested passers-by on the day.

We still have supplies of the leaflet available on the bookstall in the hall, so why not take some with you when you go on holiday and give them to churches you visit, together with greetings from Crown Court.

Open Church

We are opening the church to visitors during June, July and August on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 11.30 am and 2.30 pm, and on Thursdays between 11.00 am and 1.00 pm.

We need two people in the church every day to show people around, so if you are able to give some time to help keep the church open, please add your name to the list on the notice board or speak to Margaret Ross.

Crown Court Calendar Competition

Here’s a chance for all you budding photographers in our congregation to submit entries to the Crown Court Church 2017 Calendar Photo Competition.

The theme of the calendar is ‘London from a Different Angle’ allowing you to capture images of London sights, familiar or unfamiliar, but not as you’d see them in a conventional photo. You can choose a favourite building, open space, or London scene. You can also submit up to 12 separate entries, as a different image will be used for each month.

Entries will be accepted from December 2015 and throughout 2016 with a final closing date of 30 September 2016.  It is hoped that we will receive entries showing London and its many events as the seasons change.

In addition to the Calendar, you may submit a suitable festive photo which can be considered for the 2016 Crown Court Christmas Card. Mary-Jannet Leith’s shot of the interior of the church has helped this year’s card almost sell out in a couple of weeks.

Photos submitted should be your own original work and not acquired from another source. These can be in black and white or colour with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi as taken and only landscape orientation please.

The photo should be labelled with your name and date of birth and should be e-mailed to competition@crowncourtchurch.org.uk. Please also add a brief description of the photo which can be printed on the Calendar. Anyone in the congregation can enter – there is no age limit!

And there will be a prize for the best entry in both senior and junior categories.

By entering this competition you are giving permission to Crown Court Church to reproduce the image in the Calendar including possible cropping, colour correcting etc.  The successful photos will be used for the Crown Court Church Calendar or Christmas Card. The decision by the judging panel is final.

The Calendars should be available for sale as soon as possible after the final closing date.

Any queries should also be sent to Norma McGoldrick using the e-mail address above.
